He will examine the gap, the gum around it, the neighbouring teeth and how your teeth meet when you bite. These findings help him assess whether an implant may be suitable and whether further planning is needed.

Your assessment normally includes a 3D CBCT scan
A conventional dental X-ray provides useful two-dimensional information. A CBCT scan shows the height and width of the available bone in three dimensions, together with its relationship to nearby anatomy. The scan is taken in the clinic. If treatment proceeds, the CBCT data is used to plan the implant position digitally and, for suitable cases, create a 3D-printed surgical guide in-house.

Each single-tooth implant package includes the implant fixture, implant placement surgery, CBCT-based 3D planning, a 3D-printed surgical guide where clinically appropriate, a standard abutment, PFM crown, standard initial postoperative medicines and routine scheduled treatment reviews. Prices for multiple implants and any additional procedures are confirmed after assessment.
The initial consultation is S$50. A CBCT scan, when clinically indicated, is S$250. Both charges are credited towards your implant treatment if you proceed; if you do not proceed, the charges remain payable.
Eligible patients may use up to S$1,120 from MediSave for implant insertion under Table 2C, plus up to S$830 for eligible day-surgery charges for that treatment day. This may provide up to S$1,950 towards a single-implant procedure. The additional S$830 is per treatment day, not per implant. The amount actually usable depends on eligible charges, CPF approval and the available MediSave balance. The crown itself is not part of the surgical procedure claim. We will assist with the claim paperwork.

What Does a Single-Tooth Dental Implant Cost Here?
An Osstem implant with a PFM crown is S$2,500, while a Straumann implant with a PFM crown is S$3,800. A zirconia crown upgrade is S$400. Bone grafting starts from S$500 when required. There is no GST. Your personalised treatment estimate will be confirmed after assessment.

How Long Does the Whole Thing Take?
You should be thinking in months rather than weeks. The implant goes in first, and then it needs time to fuse with your bone before the new tooth can go on top of it. Dr Kevin will tell you how long yours is likely to take once he has seen your scan.
Will Any Implant Treatment Be Carried Out at the Initial Assessment?
No implant surgery is planned as part of the initial assessment. The appointment consists of a clinical examination, discussion and CBCT imaging where clinically indicated. Any subsequent procedure requires a separate treatment plan and consent.
I Am Nervous About the Dentist. Is That Going to Be a Problem?
Not at all, and you would be surprised how many people tell us the same thing. Let us know when you arrive, or mention it in the form, and Dr Kevin will take his time and talk you through everything as he goes.
What if an Implant Is Not Suitable for Me?
Dr Kevin will explain the findings and discuss reasonable alternatives. Some people may require bone grafting or further assessment first, while others may be better suited to a bridge, denture or another option.
What Should I Bring With Me?
If you have had a dental X ray or a scan taken in the last year, bring it along or send it over beforehand. Bring a list of any medication you take as well. If you have neither of those, just come as you are.
